Operation C (Nintendo Game Boy, 1991)
product details
specifications
Features
A 1991 release for the Nintendo Game Boy featuring five stages that share design similarities with earlier titles in the series. The odd-numbered stages utilize a side-view perspective, while the even-numbered stages are presented from a top-view perspective. Audio consists primarily of arranged background music from the original game, excluding specific themes such as the Area 2 theme, the Stage Select theme, the sub-boss theme in Area 3, and the ending theme. Auto-fire is enabled as a default feature, removing the Machine Gun power-up found in prior entries. Players utilize the Spread Shot and Fire Gun, alongside a new Homing Gun that targets enemies. The Spread Shot starts as a three-way shot and upgrades to a five-way version upon secondary pickup. The Fire Gun lacks chargeable shots, and the Barrier and Rapid Bullets power-ups are not included. The objective involves a character neutralizing an enemy force secretly storing an alien cell. Details on the antagonists vary by region, identifying them as a hostile nation or a force working for an entity named Black Viper. The player takes the role of Bill Rizer, and the character identity designation was adapted from a Player 1 character in previous titles to a Player 2 character in this installment.
